LANDER VALLEY SPORTSMEN

DEC 2009

Greetings Members,

I trust you had am enjoyable fall and are looking forward to a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Enclosed is the 2010 range schedule.  You’ll see a wide variety of events that beg you to participate.  All LVSA events are open to non-members, so bring a friend and introduce them to the shooting sports.  Ladies and youth are most welcome and you’ll find a host of folks that will lend a hand with the rules and procedures.  If you are too intimidated to enter the competition—come and lend a hand while you learn.

This years rifle raffle tickets are for a Remington 700 in 270 Win with a laminated stock.  The beautiful rifle is on display at the Good Place in Lander.  Thanks to the Past Shooters and The Good Place for providing the rifle.  Additional tickets are available from Sec/Trea Banks and at the Good Place.   The winner of the 2009 Ruger 77 in 7x57 was Alan Robertson, Lander.  Will this be your year to win??

WINTER reminder--  Please replace the orange target frame pocket locating stakes after use.   Also please use the snow scraper to keep the steps and apron snow and ice free.  It only takes a few minutes and lessens the chance of slips and falls.

The juniors are using the indoor Monday evenings to further their rifle skills under the direction of Dudley Irvine and Chip Williams.   Tuesday evenings adults are shooting  in preparation of up coming 3 Position matches, to advance their classifications thru the NRA self directed program and  some have entered various postal matches.   LVSA has it own postal on the 50 foot scaled silhouette targets that is open to any 22LR under 10 pounds 2 ounces with any sight.  The program is on the web and posted on the indoor bulleting board or contact Roger Sebesta.

Vandalism, graffiti, and littering is a problem around the indoor range building.  There are a few that are trespassing and damaging the solar panels, so if you observe that type of activity, please phone the police.

LVSA club meeting are the first Weds evening of the month, Sept thru May; come take part in the planning of YOUR club.

                Best wishes   Roger Sebesta
